The Following is a Mortgage at Hackenthorpe dated October 13th, 1917

Messrs S H Staniforth and H H Staniforth to Mr Harry Hutton

Mortgage of six dwellinghouses situate in Brook Lane Hackenthorpe in the Parish of Beighton in the County of Derby to secure £250 and interes

THIS INDENTURE made the thirteen day of October One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventeen (13th Oct 1917) BETWEEN SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH both of Hackenthorpe in the Parish of Beighton in the County of Derby Miners of the one part and HARRY HUTTON of Chequers Hotel South Elmsall near Pontefract of the County of York Innkeeper of the other part WHEREAS the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH are seized as tenants in common in fee simple free from incumbrances of the hereditaments intended to be hereby conveyed AND whereas the said HARRY HUTTON has agreed to lend the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds (£250) to the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH upon having the payment thereof with interest secured in manner hereinafter expressed NOW this indenture WITNESSETH that in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds now paid by the said HARRY HUTTON to the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH (the receipt whereof the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH hereby acknowledge) the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH hereby jointly and severally covenant with the said HARRY HUTTON to pay to him on the Thirteenth day of April (13th April) next the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds with interest thereon in the meantime after such a rate percent per annum as will after Income Tax has been taken off produce to the said HARRY HUTTON Five Pounds (£5) percent per annum computed from the date of these presents AND ALSO so long after that day as any principal money remains due under these presents to pay to him interest thereon after the same rate by equal half yearly payments on the thirteen day of april (13th April) and the thirteen day of October (13th Oct) AND this indenture also witnesseth that for the consideration aforesaid the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH as beneficial owners hereby convey unto the said HARRY HUTTON ALL those six dwellinghouses with the yards and outbuildings thereto belonging situate on the East side of and being No’s 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 Brook Lane Hackenthorpe in the Parish of Beighton In the County of Derby and now in the several occupations of HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH, GEORGE FARRAR, CHARLES BARKER, SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH, THOMAS GYTE and P PEARSON and the site whereof contains two hundred and sixty square yards (260 sq yds) or thereabouts TOGETHER with the appurtenances TO HOLD unto and to the use of HARRY HUTTON in fee simple PROVIDED always that if the said sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds with interest thereon shall be paid on the thirteen day of April next according to the foregoing covenant in that behalf the said hereditaments hereby conveyed shall at the request and the cost of the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH their heirs or assigns be reconveyed to them AND the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH hereby jointly and severally covenant with the said HARRY HUTTON that they the said SAMUEL HEATON STANIFORTH and HERBERT HEATON STANIFORTH or the persons deriving title under them will at all times during the continuance of this security keep the messuages and buildings comprised herein insured against loss or damage by fire in the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds (£250) at least in the LIVERPOOL AND LONDON AND GLOBE INSURANCE OFFICE or some other insurance office approved by the said HARRY HUTTON his executors and administrators or assigns and will pay all premiums payable in respect of such Insurance within seven days after the same shall become due and will on demand will deliver to the said HARRY HUTTON his executors administrators or assigns the policy of such Insurance and the receipt for every such premium IN WITNESS whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first before written
