The Following is a mortgage dated December 24th, 1840

MORTGAGE of two cottages and premises at Hackenthorpe in the County of Derby for securing £137-10-6 and Interest between Mr GEORGE GREAVES and his Mortgagees to Mr JOSEPH LIVERSEDGE

THIS INDENTURE of three parts made the twenty fourth day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty (1840) between GEORGE GREAVES late of Rotherham but now of Sheffield in the County of York Publican (Eledest son and heir at law of GEORGE GREAVES) heretofore of Dinnington in the said County Yeoman deceased who died intestate on or about the Twenty Seventh day of December One Thousand Seven Hundred and Four (1704) of the first part THOMAS STOCKS of Rotherham aforesaid Butcher and THOMAS COWEN of the same place draper of the second part and JOSEPH LIVERSEDGE of Sheffield aforesaid Blacksmith of the third part WHEREAS an Indenture of Mortgage bearing date Fifth day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty (1830)and made between the said GEORGE GREAVES (party hereto) of the one part and the said THOMAS STOCKS and THOMAS COWEN of the other part the Hereditaments and Premises hereinafter described were granted and demised unto the said THOMAS STOCKS and THOMAS COWEN their Executors Administrators and Assigns for and during the term of One Thousand Years from the date thereof at the yearly rent of a pepper corn if demanded for securing payment of the sum of One Hundred Pounds (£100) then lent by them to the said GEORGE GREAVES (party hereto) and full lawfull interest for the same at the time therin mentioned AND WHEREAS by a memorandum bearing date the Eighth day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty two (1832) endorsed on the back of the said Indenture of Mortgage the said THOMAS STOCKS and THOMAS COWEN did acknowledge that the principal and interest moneys thereby received had been paid to them which they do hereby testify and declare AND WHEREAS the said GEORGE GREAVES is indebted to the said JOSEPH LIVERSEDGE in the sum of One Hundred and Ten Pounds for money lent and advanced by him to the said GEORGE GREAVES on the said Eighth day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Two (1832) and in the further sum of Twenty Seven Pounds Ten Shillings and Six Pence for the balance of interest for the said sum of One Hundred and Ten Pounds (making together the sum of One Hundred and Thirty Seven Pounds Ten Shillings and Six Pence) to the date of these Presents which the said GEORGE GREAVES doth hereby testify and declare and at the request of the said JOSEPH LIVERSEDGE hath agreed to secure payment thereof with interest for the same and the said THOMAS STOCKS and THOMAS COWEN have at the request of the said GEORGE GREAVES (party hereto) have agreed to assign the said premises as hereinafter is mentioned NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that in pursuance of the said agreement and in consideration of the principal money and interest secured by the said recited Indenture
