Edith Heaton Staniforth was born August 5th 1872 at #1 Brook Lane, Hackenthorpe to Charles Heaton Staniforth and Ann Miller. She was baptised at St. Mary's Beighton on October 13th 1872.

Edith appears on the Hackenthorpe Infants School records, recorded as being admitted as of July 23rd 1883, the record also notes she previously attended Woodhouse.

Throughout her childhood Edith lived with her parents and siblings at Brook Lane, on the 1881 Census, 8 year old Edith is with her siblings Norah Heaton Staniforth, Eliza Heaton Staniforth, Samuel Heaton Staniforth, Edwin Heaton Staniforth and her parents.

Edith married George Henry Brown on November 16th 1891 at St. Mary's Beighton. George was a Collier from Worksop.

On the 1901 Census the two are residing at Brook Lane, George is aged 35, and Edith is 30. They have a daughter Elsie, aged 2.

On the 1911 Census, George Henry Staniforth is 45, and Edith is 39. The family has since grown, Elsie is joined by 9 year old Nellie Brown, 7 year old Dorothy Brown, 5 year old Fred Brown, 2 year old Hilda Brown and newborn George Henry Brown.

Dorothy Brown married Albert Lunn and had two sons, Kenneth Lunn and Geoffrey Lunn.

Edith and George had another daughter on February 2nd, 1912 named Irene Brown, she would go onto marry George Havenhand in 1939 and they had a number of children including Roger Havenhand, a man that was still in possession of the Heaton Staniforth family bible in 2018.

Nellie Brown married Leonard Siddall on May 16th 1921 at Beighton, and they had a son Willis Siddall born October 20th 1921. Willis Siddall first married Ida Norris in 1946 and secondly married Brenda Havenhand in 1974. Willis had a daughter with his first wife named Gail Siddall, born in 1955, she married a man with the surname Badger. Gail is another relative that has provided us with personal family information.

Edith Brown passed away on February 25th 1939 at Beighton.
